Cleaning issues to consider in a factory setting

Factories are dangerous and are magnets for OSHA fines.  Millions of dollars are invested in equipment and facilities.  Special precautions should be taken when structuring a cleaning program.  Select Cleaning Contractors that are trained and experienced in setting up successful cleaning programs to minimize safety hazards, protect equipment and provide for safe, efficient cleaning procedures.

Safety Training and a written Safety Program should be required to prevent accidents and OSHA fines.

MSDS for all cleaning products are essential to comply with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard.  MSDS is the most common violation cited by OSHA, with fines up to $70,000 per incident.

Liability Insurance should be a major concern when hiring a cleaning contractor due to the high cost and liability of manufacturing equipment.   Most companies require a minimum of $2,000,000 and some require $5,000,000 umbrella liability policies.

Sexual Harassment training for all contractors should be required.  Any situation where large numbers of people work closely together, day after day, are ripe for harassment problems.

Manufacturing often requires 2nd shift, 3rd shift and weekend cleaning operations.  Experienced supervision of cleaning staff is essential.

Don't take a chance with inexperienced janitorial staff.
